Chicago C4D is ringing in the New Year with a brand new web presence.  If you were expecting to land at our old Google Group, we hope you're pleasantly surprised.  Having our own hosted site and CMS is going to dramatically increase what we'll be able to offer between meetings.  We're starting off with this blog and our new forums, and there will be much more to come.  So register with our new site, make yourself comfortable, and stay a while.

Update: All 40 spots are now filled for our Sept. 7 meeting—thanks for the great response! We'll see you next week.

Our September 7 meeting is at a pretty special Michigan Ave. location. So special in fact, that attendance is limited to the first 40 people to email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . (Be sure to include your full name, and we'll reply with all the details.) Inspired by the venue, we have put together two great presentations for you.

Cinema 4D R13

Cinema 4D R13 Demo
Maxon has just announced Cinema 4D R13. Chris Schmidt will demonstrate some of the new features in this major upgrade, including:

  • Completely new physically accurate rendering engine based on the properties of a real camera.
  • New character object including an auto rigger, which simplifies the process of building a rig and applying it to a character.
  • Stereoscopic 3D workflow for generating and viewing high-quality 3D content across a wide variety of media.
This may be your first chance to see Cinema 4D R13 in person, so you won't want to miss it.

Introduction to Python in Cinema 4D
Python is a powerful, easy to learn programming language that is deeply integrated with Cinema 4D. But if you're a designer, chances are you've been hesitant to dive into the world of code. Jack Bransfield will use a simple project to introduce you to the basics of Python and show you how it opens up a whole new world of possibilities in Cinema 4D.

We'll see you there!

Date: Wednesday September 7th, 6:30pm.
